Novel Transformerless Modified Switched Inductor Topologies With High-Voltage Lift and Reduced Switch Current Stress

Transformerless high-gain dc–dc converters are gaining popularity in various applications, including dc microgrids, electrical vehicle (EV) fast charging, fuel cell vehicles, and renewable energy systems. In this article, novel non-isolated efficient high-voltage lift (NIEHVL) dc–dc converter topologies with reduced switch current stress are proposed. Notably, the replacement of the diode in the conventional switched inductor topology with an additional switch mitigates switch current stress, enhances the voltage gain and efficiency. The proposed topologies are designed with a single driver circuit, minimum components, and reduced switch current stress compared to existing switched inductor topologies. Further, this article also presents an analysis of circuit parasitics’ effect on voltage gain and dynamic modelling of the proposed NIEHVL topologies. Finally, the prototypes of the proposed converters are fabricated, and experimental studies are carried-out to ascertain the results obtained from analytical results. The measured maximum efficiency of the proposed NIEHVL topology-II is 96.2% at a power rating of 220 W.
