Rapid Acquisition of Gingival Crevicular Fluid FT-IR Spectra for Monitoring Orthodontic Treatments

Investigation on Gingival Crevicular Fluid (GCF) demonstrated the relevance of the information that can be obtained by using FT-IR spectroscopy for monitoring orthodontic treatments. To make this approach more useful in clinical environment, a certain number of efforts should be made for simplifying the collection and analysis of GCF FT-IR spectra. For this purpose, a faster procedure for collecting GCF spectra can be adopted by exploiting the attenuated total reflection (ATR) approach that allows the collection of good-quality infrared spectra with no sample preparation.
