Interfering Signal Transmission Using Multi-Frequency Beamforming

In an environment of the electromagnetic spectrum, electronic warfare refers to activities aimed at interfering with the radio resources of the opponent and maximizing the operational efficiency of the allies. Equipment for interfering signal transmission is used to interfere with the activity of multiple signals of an opponent using limited resources based on prior information. The existing method of interfering signal transmission interrupts the activity of multiple threat signals by sequentially transmitting an interference signal. However, it has limited continuous electronic attacks against multiple threats. This study proposes a multi-interfering signal generator developed to minimize the black time of such interfering signal transmission and to simultaneously interfere with the activity of signals in multiple frequencies. We describe the design of a low-complexity multi-interfering signal generator, including a noise signal generator with variable bandwidth, and a multi-frequency wideband signal generator. Furthermore, we propose a multi-level water-filling algorithm to power control multi-frequency beamforming transmission. The effectiveness of the device for multi-frequency interfering signal transmission was verified by presenting the test results of the output signal for the multi-interfering signal generator developed by applying the proposed technique. Moreover, the results confirmed that beam steering guaranteeing a beam gain loss within 1 dBm is possible.
