Design and Analysis of Special-Shaped Pole Piece PMSM With Low Vibration and High Overload Capacity

The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has some shortcomings such as poor overload capacity and large vibration. In this paper, a special shaped pole piece motor is presented. According to the principle of magnetic field energy, the special-shaped pole piece (SSPP) increases the equivalent length of the air gap, and deduces the theoretical basis for the reduction of magnetic density and slot torque of the motor. The finite element model was established to analyze the no-load, rated load and overload conditions of the motor. The concentrated force of the teeth and vibration at each frequency were solved. The results show that the method can reduce the saturation degree of the motor, improve the overload capacity and efficiency, and weaken the low frequency vibration, so it has a significant application value.
