Multi-Condition Cooperative Control of a Hybrid Excited Axial Switched-Flux Permanent Magnet Generator for Distributed Pumped Storage System

This paper presents a multi-condition cooperative control method for the distributed pumped storage system based on a hybrid excited axial switched-flux permanent magnet generator. First, the model of the generator and power electronic converter are established. Then, a cooperative control method, including a grid voltage vector orientation control strategy under power generation condition and a speed partition control scheme under electric working condition, is proposed. The current of the grid-side converter and excitation current are coordinated to meet the power demand of the grid. The wide speed-regulation range and large output torque are achieved by cooperatively regulated the armature and excitation current of the generator. The experiment results show the proposed system has strong load capacity and flexible power-regulation capability under multiple conditions. Meanwhile, the proposed control method is validated.
