Scattering-Center-Model-Inspired Micromotion False Target Generation Using Time-Modulated Metasurface

In this letter, we propose a novel micromotion false target generation method based on the scattering center model using a time-modulated metasurface. First, the scattering center model is constructed to analyze the micro-Doppler characteristics of the intended deceptive target, which extracts both the echo phase and the micro-Doppler frequency of the scattering centers. Second, the time-modulated metasurface is designed to modulate the phase variation of its radar echo to align with that of the echo generated by the micromotion deceptive target, which is used for the micro-Doppler frequency deception and the generation of the false target. Both the numerical and experimental results demonstrate that high similarities over 0.9 for the time–frequency image of the intended deceptive target are achieved.
