A Innovative RTCP Detection Method for Five-Axis Machine Tools Based on The Serial Length Ball Bars

To efficient evaluate the dynamic accuracy of five-axis CNC machine tools, a RTCP (Rotation Tool Centre Point) detection method based on the serial length ball bars is proposed in this paper. A servo system for five-axis CNC machine tools is established, which serves as the theoretical foundation for RTCP detection. The effect of the serial lengths ball bar on the RTCP detection range and speed magnitude of five-axis CNC machine tools is comparatively analyzed. The result indicate that the velocity of the fifth axis tool spindle is not only one of the significant motion characteristics but also an important factor affecting the tool tip point error of the machine tool. As the combination of the fifth axis tool spindle velocity varies, the RTCP detection results become richer, with significant variations in the range of differences. The combination of the serial length ball bars more distinctly reflects the dynamic control precision status and exhibits superior performance in dynamic control precision testing. This method enriches the variations in RTCP detection results, enhancing the detection performance. It opens up new perspectives for RTCP detection of five-axis CNC machine tools and provides innovative detection approaches and theoretical foundations.
