LPE layers of (111) orientation are reported and discussed. While Faraday rotation, θF, and saturation magnetization, M

, are in agreement with results of earlier studies on (Y,Bi)

Fe
₅

₁₂
-films, tne uniaxial growthinduced anisotropy shows a quite different behaviour, depending on the growth conditions (melt composition and supercooling, ΔT
_s
). K
^g
_u
<0 has been measured for (Lu,Bi)
₃
Fe
₅
0
₁₂
samples grown from melts rich in bismuth and boron oxide.
