Distributed Spectrum Sharing Systems: Promises and Challenges

This paper is focused on enabling distributed spectrum sharing, its promises and associated research challenges. Although distributed systems and algorithms are very well understood, and spectrum sharing is well established, the combination of these two offers considerable opportunity for research and development. The need for distributed spectrum sharing, potential architectures and ultimately, future research directions at the intersection of the two domains are discussed.
