Two-in-One Integrated Antennas for Miniaturized and Low-Cost Wireless Devices

The footprint of an antenna usually occupies a large portion of the entire space in a wireless device. Hence, it is efficient to reduce the size of a RF system by fusing the functions of different antennas or components in one antenna. In this presentation, three designs are exhibited to provide examples that can fusing two different radiation patterns, two different operating frequency regions, and two different functions, respectively. Specifically, a millimeter-wave array antenna with flat-shoulder beam that fusing a fan-beam and a pencil-beam, a large-frequency-ratio tri-band antenna fusing two microwave operating bands and one millimeter-wave operating band, a wideband millimeter-wave filtenna fusing the function of a wideband antenna and a wideband bandpass filter are discussed. These three two-in-one antenna design examples can be good candidates for miniaturized and low-cost wireless devices.
