An Efficient Real-Time Ground Reflection Removal and Target Detection Algorithm for UAV-Mounted GPR Systems

This study introduces a compact GPR system mounted on a VAV with support of high-performance ground reflection removal and hyperbola detection algorithms. The system can be efficiently used for onsite detection, positioning and marking of buried threats. The aim is the detection of shallow-buried metal and non-metal threats using an impulse GPR. A ground reflection removal algorithm has been developed, independent of weather conditions, VAV height changes, and landforms. Hyperbola detection has been performed on the pre-processed GPR data using the YOLOv7 model.
