MPC Controller Design for Variable Speed Wind Turbines in the presence of Actuator Faults

The MPC controllers for variable speed wind turbines system is presented in this paper. By using LMI, a novel FTC strategy for faulty system in the presence of disturbances and is considered based on MPC and fault estimation scheme. For generalizing of fault effects all faults types of actuator include bias, loss of effectiveness, stuck, and failure are considered. The MPC fault Tolerant controller guarantees to eliminate actuator faults effects, and to remove disturbance effects. The merits of the proposed fault tolerant control schemes and the better performance of MPC controllers utilizing nonlinear variable speed wind turbines subjected to actuator faults have been verified.
