Synthesis and Characterization of Zinc Oxide Nanorods using Green Method

One-dimensional crystalline zinc oxide nanorods (ZnO NRs) with a preferred growth orientation along the (0001) plane have been successfully cultivated on ZnO-seeded glass substrates. This investigation primarily focuses on the bio-synthesis, specifically employing a green synthesis method, for the fabrication of ZnO NRs utilizing parsley plant extracts. The plant leaf extracts, rich in polyphenols, function as both reducing and stabilizing agents, while zinc nitrate hexahydrate (Zn(NO3)2.6H2O) serves as the precursor material. The morphology, elemental composition, and optical properties of the synthesized ZnO NRs were comprehensively analyzed employing scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), respectively. Additionally, the structural characteristics of the ZnO NRs were elucidated through X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Furthermore, this study delves into the synthesized techniques and associated growth mechanisms.
