Electricity Theft Identification and Prevention System for Home Use

Energy theft is a significant global issue affecting enterprises involved in electricity transmission and distribution, as many users fail to pay for electricity, jeopardizing the financial stability and profitability of power providers. To address this issue, a cost-effective smart energy theft detection and prevention system is proposed, using microprocessors and GSM technology to remotely detect and stop theft. The system uses an Arduino Nano, NODEMCU V3, Wi-Fi module, relay module, LCD, and current sensors to monitor electrical flow and detect theft. Additionally, a mobile application is developed to enable real-time monitoring and swift detection of electricity theft through its user-friendly interface. Upon detection, the system triggers an alarm with a 3-second delay and temporarily cuts off electricity along the affected path. The implementation of the proposed electricity theft detection and prevention system is essential for a reliable and secure electricity supply, allowing for timely intervention against unauthorized usage through the analysis of current levels in specific areas.
