Development and Performance Evaluation of Coconut Dehusking Machine

The project involves the design and testing of a coconut dehusking machine to facilitate local coconut dehusking. The detailed design of the machine's components was carried out using relevant design equations, followed by material selection, fabrication, and assembly. The developed machine, which is powered by a 5HP electric motor, consists of gears, spiked rollers, bearings, a frame, an electric motor, a chain, and a sprocket. The coconut is placed between two spiked rollers that rotate in opposite directions, causing gripping and tearing of the coconut husk. The performance efficiency resulted in 77.5%, indicating that the machine saves time and is very efficient. The machine has capacity of 62Kg/ hr.
