Optimal Power Allocation in a Rubber-Tired Gantry Crane System: A Case Study of the BSS and the Grid

The purpose of this work is to examine the optimization of power supply and control techniques in Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) crane systems. A Simulink-based simulation model was developed to investigate the behavior of the RTG Crane system, with a focus on the interaction of the three primary motors, namely the hoist, trolley, and gantry motor. The study investigates power supply scenarios and control factors to give insights into how to improve power consumption savings, efficiency, sustainability, and performance of RTG Crane operations. Integration of alternate power sources, including improved battery storage systems, and optimization of control algorithms provide a diverse approach to addressing these modern difficulties. Our primary goal is to improve energy consumption in an RTG while keeping the three main motors' important responsibilities in view. This paper presents the proposed model and the result showed energy consumption savings.
