A Review on the Effect of Rare Metals Additions on the Mechanical and Damping Properties of CuAlNi Shape Memory Alloys

Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) are materials that, even after deformation, return to their original form. Due to the limited constraints of NiTi SMA, researchers have lately begun investigating Cu-based SMAs. Compared to NiTi SMAs, Cu-based SMAs offer more advantages because they can adapt to an extensive variety of temperature changes, which allow for modifying both the composition and the processing methods and, ultimately, the improved performance of their features. CuAlNi SMA has an outstanding change in temperature range, electrical and thermal conductivity, flexibility, and changeable compositions, allowing for efficient use of their properties. This review article contains information on research done on CuAlNi SMA plus the inclusion of some rare earth metals, which will aid researchers in conducting additional studies on the composite for a variety of purposes.
