Digitalization and Industry 4.0 Technologies in Asset Integrity: A Comparative Analysis in the Oil and Gas Sector

In this study, the evaluation of the impact of digitization on managing the integrity of oil and gas assets was analysed. It was found that asset integrity is a critical component of safety management in the industry. However, the advancements in digitization may require asset owners to give up their facilities to support real-time maintenance and operations procedures. The study also highlights the importance of using digital technologies such as the internet of things and information model building to efficiently manage assets. Lastly, it was suggested that in order to address the phases in the asset integrity management of the oil and gas industry, varying degrees of digitization should be implemented.
