DINE PASS: Improving Hostel Dining Experience using Sense-Think-Act Paradigm

The traditional dining experience, in college mess halls has long been plagued by problems such as inefficiencies, long lines, lower personal hygienic practices and manual record keeping. To tackle these issues a solution called "Dine Pass" is introduced in this paper. Dine Pass aims to revolutionize hostel dining entry experience by leveraging technology and a smart approach to streamline and enhance every aspect of the dining journey. By utilizing sensors like RFID readers and IR sensors Dine Pass establishes an automated authentication system that eliminates the need for paper-based mess cards and time-consuming manual checks. With a tap of their RFID card students can swiftly access the mess hall without facing long queues or wasting time. In addition to improving entry efficiency Dine Pass also addresses hygiene concerns by incorporating a hand sanitizer dispenser triggered by IR sensors. This ensures cleanliness. This paper highlights the challenges and inefficiencies associated with the existing system such, as time consuming processes, infection risks and ineffective record keeping. The proposed Dine Pass system provides an integrated solution to overcome these issues. By implementing automated authentication processes implementing hygiene measures and ensuring accuracy, in record keeping Dine Pass greatly enhances the overall dining experience at hostels. Through the implementation of Dine Pass, institutions stand to benefit from increased operational efficiency, reduced queue times, improved hygiene standards, and enhanced data management. Students, on the other hand, can enjoy seamless access to meals, better utilization of time, and heightened peace of mind regarding hygiene.
