Securing Real-Time 3D Video Streaming in Digital Pathology - Challenges and Recommendations

The advancements in medical technologies and the surge of digital medicine are revolutionizing medical collaboration for diagnosis, surgical planning, and training. Efficient, real-time network streaming is essential for such collaborative environments. However, the use of interconnected systems and Virtual Reality (VR) in organisations introduces significant security risks in the handling of sensitive medical data. Therefore, adherence to international standards like ISO/IEC 27001 is important to have effective information security management. This paper reviews the security aspects of real-time 3D video streaming in digital pathology and provides recommendations for building secure systems based on the technological controls recommended in the ISO/IEC 27001 standard.
