Reducing Power Losses with Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting Interface Circuit

Piezoelectric energy harvesting (PEH) is a technology that uses piezoelectric transducer to obtain electrical energy from mechanical vibration energy. It has a problem of power loss caused by the parasitic capacitance of the piezoelectric transducer, and an interface circuit is needed to solve this problem. In this research, we will propose an interface circuit that further reduces power loss by combining a conventional circuit that inserts an inductor in parallel with a piezoelectric transducer and a conventional circuit that inserts a switched capacitor in parallel with the piezoelectric transducer. Simulation results show that the proposed circuit improves efficiency by 15.6% over the conventional circuit.
