A Comprehensive Study on QoS Enhancement in SDN based VANET

In the current road scenario the number of vehicles expanded steadily, which resulted in serious traffic issues including congestion, a feasible path, and related problems like accidents. To overcome this, the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) offers top-notch services including emergency alerts and safety applications. However, due to the vast number of vehicles, ITS limits scalability, adaptability, and traffic control activities. Thus, it is necessary to expand the conventional Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) architecture. As a result, the design of Software Defined Networking (SDN) based VANET has drawn a lot of attention recently and enhanced the intelligence of VANETs. The aforementioned difficulties faced by VANET can be handled via the SDN-based VANET design. In addition to being programmable, the centralized (logically) SDN architecture contains global knowledge of the VANET architecture. Consequently, it can manage scalability with ease.
