A Multipurpose Microcontroller-Based Energy Management System for Microgrid Cluster Utilizing GSM Communication

To harness renewable energy sources more efficiently and utilize less energy from the utility grid, a microgrid cluster power monitoring and energy management system based on renewable energy has been developed. This study introduces a microgrid energy management system that consists of two configurations of solar installations combined with microgrid clusters that are battery-powered. The real-time monitoring and control of power in the utility grid is made easier by integrating an Arduino UNO micro controller-based Global System for Mobile communication interface. With this combination, energy production efficiency is maximized, prudent energy use is encouraged, and a cost-effective Internet of Things (IoT) powered microgrid cluster for energy management is created in tandem with the utility grid. The end results are lower electricity costs, more opportunities for microgrids and the utility grid to exchange power, and a more thorough examination of electrical parameters including voltage, current, active power, and load-consumed energy amounts. Through a SIM-based mobile phone user interface, direct connection with the load management system is possible. The foundation for connection between an Arduino UNO and a mobile phone is provided by the Global System for Mobile connection Module Connectivity. This system's performance highlights its ability to effectively manage, oversee, and control energy dynamics in the utility grid as well as the microgrids, enhancing its operational competence.
