Design of Advanced Integer and Non-Integer Controller for Islanded Microgrid System

In this paper, an approach for the design of controller for networked islanded microgrid system integrated with distributed energy resources, electrolyser system, energy storage system and fuel cell will be developed. The controller design process will consider network-induced time delay in the synthesis of PI controller. The gain margin and phase margin specifications will also be considered to ensure a robust design. Microgrid system have gained significant attention in recent years due to their ability to integrate distributed energy resources and support sustainable and reliable electricity generation. In islanded microgrid systems, since the Microgrid operates autonomously in a floating mode without any integration to the main power system grid, it is crucial to develop advanced control strategies that can ensure stable and reliable operation. The closed loop system will be modelled in transfer function approach. For step change in load, the incremental frequency variable will be studied to visualize the impact of control. In the analysis, the variations caused by the photovoltaic cell and wind due to environmental conditions will be considered to assess the robustness of designed control. The MATLAB based simulation studies will supplement analytical results.
