Comparison of PID Controllers with Engineering-Tuned Parameters and Fuzzy PID Controllers in the Application of Boost Converters

In recent years, with the introduction of the "dual carbon" goals, the requirement for stable output from power electronic devices has become increasingly critical as various new energy sources are integrated into the power grid. The Boost converter, serving as the main power conversion device in the front-stage boost circuit of photovoltaic grid-connected systems, plays a crucial role in the stability of the entire grid-connected system. The PID controller is a common type of controller that plays a vital role in the control of power electronic devices, but determining its proportional, integral, and differential factors is a complex issue. In this paper, we first analyze the basic working principle of the Boost circuit and then derive the transfer function of the Boost circuit under the average equivalent model. Subsequently, we introduce a method for designing the control system of the Boost circuit based on the Bode plot, setting a set of parameters. Afterwards, we introduce fuzzy PID control and apply it to the design of the Boost circuit. Finally, a simulation model is built in Simulink to compare the output effects of engineering tuned parameters and fuzzy PID control, verifying the conclusions.
