Optimized Charging Strategy of Electric Vehicles Considering Power Distribution Network Load

Based on the travel characteristics of electric vehicle (EVs), an optimized charging method for EVs is proposed. At first, the charging amount is predicted according to the statistical rules of EV. The EVs are regarded as a flexible adjustable load. The goals are the minimum daily load peak, the minimum peak-to-valley difference in load curve, and the minimum adjustment of the EVs load. The variables are optimized for the peak, trough, and flat periods of the daily load curve. A multi-objective optimization model that takes into account the characteristics of EV is established. The adjusted daily load curve is obtained using the NSGA-2 algorithm. The results show that rationally adjusting and optimizing EVs load charging process can significantly reduce the daily load peak and obtain a notable effect of peak clipping and valley filling.
