Ionization and Attachment Characteristics of a Novel Ternary Gas Mixture to Replace SF6 gas

Replacing SF6 gas in power equipment is a hot research topic in the power industry. The ultimate goal of alternative gases is to replace SF6 gas under the same conditions, ensuring that the equipment size remains unchanged, the pressure remains unchanged, and the application temperature remains basically unchanged, while significantly reducing the greenhouse effect of insulation gases. This article studies a novel ternary mixed gas that can meet the above requirements. The ionization and attachment coefficients at different ratios were measured through Townsend discharge experiments. Combining the critical reduced electric field and liquefaction temperature, possible alternative schemes were proposed for further verification in the future.
