Research on Optimization of Response Characteristics and Control Strategy of Magnetically-Saturated Controllable Reactor

Traditional magnetically-saturated controllable reactors (MSCR) have the disadvantage of slow response speed. To address this issue, this paper analyzes the working principle of MSCR and the main factors that affect its response speed, and proposes a fast-response MSCR(FRMSCR) structure and its control strategy. By adding a fast response device to improve the response speed of the MSCR, and utilizing the structural characteristics of the MSCR itself, an auxiliary winding is wound around the side yoke as an excitation power supply for the control winding, ensuring the sustainability of the fast response device’s operation. The control strategy for each part of the FRMSCR is proposed. The simulation models of the traditional MSCR and the FRMSCR, as well as the high-voltage transmission line model, were built based on the MATLAB/Simulink simulation platform. Their voltage limiting characteristics were compared. The results show that the fast response structure proposed in this paper, consisting of an auxiliary winding and a boost charging circuit, does not require a separate power supply for the boost charging circuit, reducing the complexity of the fast response structure and increasing the stability of the FRMSCR.
