A Novel and Accurate Transient Power Simulation Method Suitable for Gate-level Physical Design

This paper aims to investigate a transient power simulation method for VLSI design. The transient power simulation architecture designed is based on an RC current response algorithm. Experimental results show that the total power simulated using this method has an error of 4.80% compared to Primepower and -5.12% compared to Redhawk. In comparing the power waveforms of individual gates in practical circuit designs, this simulation method combines the advantages of both tools. The simulation results can serve as input information for subsequent verification simulations. Compared to existing tools, this method analyzes events in the input vector file and combines them with the output load of gate units to generate real transient power curves. This helps designers consider the peak and variation of chip transient power, providing a more accurate power simulation solution for circuit design.
