Improved Pelican Algorithm for Maximum Power Point Tracking

Under localized shading conditions, the traditional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is prone to fall into local optimums, which affects the power generation efficiency of the PV system due to the multi-peak output profile of the PV array. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a maximum power point tracking strategy based on the improved Pelican algorithm. The initial population position is adjusted by introducing chaotic mapping, and the nonlinear convergence factor and optimal neighborhood perturbation strategy are introduced to improve the convergence speed to avoid the algorithm from falling into local optimum. Simulation experimental results show that the strategy has high tracking speed and accuracy, and is able to track the maximum power point quickly under various light conditions, which effectively improves the power generation efficiency of the PV system.
