Coordinated load-shedding control strategies for multiple zones considering flexible resources

Grid interconnection is an important feature of the development of modern power industry. Along with the grid connection of large-scale distributed generation (DG), the traditional distribution grid is shifting to an active distribution grid with coordinated control of multiple resources. However, the uncertainty of the source and load terminals increases the system operation fluctuation, and load shedding is required in emergency situations to ensure the safe operation of the system. Traditional safety control load shedding removes the load from the entire local area by means of removing the high voltage load line/main substation. The large-scale and crude load shedding in the station area has a great impact on the users and the control cost is high. Its practical application makes it intolerable to the society, and the security and stability control of the power grid faces serious challenges. In this paper, the grid is partitioned based on station areas. A control strategy based on the coordinated operation of multiple emergency control resources is proposed. The energy storage is categorized according to the state and different regulation and control schemes are implemented. Stabilization control within the station area is accomplished through the cooperation between energy storage and emergency load shedding. Coordinated control of multiple zones is performed if power cannot be balanced within a zone. The feasibility of the proposed strategy is verified by the case of coordinated control of multiple units and zones.
