Voltage stability control strategies for microgrids under extreme conditions in the electricity market

Due to the reserve capacity shortage, the voltage stability control of a microgrid is difficult. To suppress voltage drop under extreme conditions, from the perspective of the cooperation between the supercapacitor and battery, this paper improves the system’s power margin by precisely controlling the voltage of the supercapacitor without increasing the capacitance. To reduce the voltage drop under extreme conditions using simulation software, a microgrid model based on a supercapacitor and battery is established. The simulation results show that the voltage drop under heavy load is 13.7% lower than that of the traditional control strategy. It is verified that the proposed strategy can effectively reduce the voltage drop under heavy load and improve the voltage stability of the microgrid.
