Redundancy Analysis and Simulation Test of Three Port Hybrid DC Circuit Breaker Configuration

The three port hybrid DC circuit breaker is a new type of circuit breaker topology that simultaneously considers reliability and economy, and has been demonstrated in the Tangjiawan three terminal flexible DC distribution network project. The article focuses on the research of three port hybrid DC circuit breakers and introduces their topology structure when connected to the Tangjiawan three terminal flexible distribution network. By comparing the configuration of three port hybrid DC circuit breakers with three discrete DC circuit breakers, a detailed analysis and study of their redundancy are conducted, fully demonstrating their economy and reliability. Finally, a simulation model of a three port hybrid DC circuit breaker was built within PSCAD/EMTDC software. The feasibility and effectiveness of the topology structure of the three port hybrid DC circuit breaker were verified by analyzing the fault removal characteristics of the circuit breaker in the event of a simulated single end ground fault.
