Mobile Banking Intention in a High-Risk Situation: Exploring the Impact of Bank Reputation and Security Perception

In light of an increase in fraudulent activity targeting mobile banking users, it is more important than ever to understand the elements driving consumers' intent to use these platforms. This quantitative study explores the subtle interplay of bank reputation, social impact, and security perception using a survey approach and Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM PLS). This inquiry takes place when a scam-prone society arises marked by a surge of scam-related news and increased security concerns. The goal of this study is to provide useful insights to financial institutions and policymakers in order to strengthen the security and trustworthiness of mobile banking systems. The study thoroughly explores the correlations between these major variables with a sample size of 140 participants. The findings highlight the importance of bank reputation in influencing consumers' intentions to use mobile banking services. Furthermore, in the face of growing scam attempts, security perception and social influence appear as significant mediating elements in changing users' attitudes and intentionsentions, particularly in the face of increased scam attempts. These insights have significant implications for strategies aimed at enhancing user adoption and security in mobile banking platforms.
