Securing Vehicles with Arduino: Implementing Geo-Fencing Technology for Theft Prevention

Theft of vehicles continues to be a major concern, necessitating robust and innovative security solutions. This paper aims to implement a vehicle theft prevention system using Arduino, GPS, and GSM technologies to create a geo-fencing system. Geo-fencing involves setting up a virtual electronic boundary around a designated location and whenever the automobile traverses over the boundary, an alert is sent to the owner. The system utilises a GPS communication module to accurately track the vehicle's location and a GSM module to transmit the location data to the owner's phone. The Arduino microcontroller is employed to process the incoming data and control the entire system efficiently. Providing real-time alerts to the user (or vehicle owner) whenever the vehicle leaves the predefined electronic boundary offers an effective solution to thwart vehicle theft attempts. Moreover, the proposed system is cost-effective and easy to install and hence a practical option for integration into any automobile system.
