Sustainable Digital Circuit Design: Asynchronous Counter on Kintex and Virtex FPGA Platforms

This study explores the design and implementation of an energy-efficient asynchronous counter using Virtex and Kintex FPGA chips on the Vivado Xilinx tool. The study aims to minimize power usage to provide consistent performance. Using state-of-the-art FPGA systems, the study investigates new circuit topologies and design strategies. Testing on Kintex and Virtex boards is used to evaluate circuit efficacy, thermal performance, and power consumption. The outcomes demonstrate significant differences in the boards' heat control and energy usage, highlighting the possibility for ecologically friendly digital circuit designs. This work offers guidance on how to make electronic systems more environmentally friendly by offering insights into energy-efficient design approaches. Kintex and Virtex both hardware boards have been analyzed on the Viva do tool. The Virtex and Kintex boards drew 7.482 and 3.116 Watts, respectively. The Virtex and Kintex boards have a 58.35% difference in power consumption. Virtex and Kintex have thermal bounds of 70.9 and 54.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. When the Kintex Board is in operation, it efficiently manages temperature and energy.
