An Assessment Study on TV White Space in Nepal Using Low-Cost Spectrum Analyzer

The examination of spectrum occupancy in distinct areas of Nepal is covered in this paper, with a focus on mobile and static data measurements to locate TV white spaces. The assessment was performed on the UHF band, particularly allocated for Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) broadcasting bands in Nepal with static and mobile measurements. The data show significant changes in signal intensity across several frequency bands. According to mobile data measurement, the discussion emphasizes the high spectrum occupancy inside the valley, whereas stationary measurements offer a nuanced view of channel-specific occupancy. The analysis pinpoints specific frequency ranges with high potential TV white space or unused spectrum in various urban and rural locations of Nepal. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of considering location-dependent spectrum intensity variations in resource allocation for broadcasting and communication purposes.
