Reliable Message Exchange for Cooperative Autonomous Driving in 3GPP C-V2X Networks

Recently, cooperative autonomous driving has be-come a popular research topic. In the network scenario, an autonomous vehicle can ask its neighboring vehicles to provide sensory data to facilitate decision-making. We observe that message exchanges between vehicles may lead to reliability issues. This paper tackles the challenge of ensuring reliable message exchanges in cooperative autonomous driving with the 3GPP C-V2X standard. We first introduce a message exchange framework and then design a neighbor selection method for message-requesting vehicles. The designed neighbor selection scheme considers various metrics of neighboring vehicles' ca-pabilities to enhance reliability. Simulation results demonstrate that our designs can facilitate avoiding faulty or malicious data sources and increasing the success ratio in obtaining accurate information.
