Implementation of Fiber Bragg Grating for Dispersion Loss Compensation in Optical Fiber Communication

The use of optical fiber in telecommunication systems is primarily due to its compact size, minimal loss, and reduced susceptibility to external interference. In long-distance signal transmission, dispersion becomes a significant factor affecting data rates due to issues like crosstalk and inter-symbol interference. While dispersions cannot be completely eliminated, they can be mitigated. There are many chirped fiber grating, optical phase conjugation, optical coherent detection, and optical equalizer. This study focus on implementing an optical communication system using fiber bragg gratings (FBGs) to address dispersion. since FBGs offer simplicity, cost effectiveness for wavelength filtering, low insertion loss, customizable reflection spectra, and broad bandwidth. Our investigation is depending on analysis of dispersion compensation using FBGs by varying the length of the fiber. This process is done using the simulation tool known as OptiSystem. The investigation has been conducted in two sections input and output. In input, input power, fiber length, attenuation coefficient, are analyzed and in output, power, noise figure, gain and Q factor. This implementation showcased an enhanced signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), resulting in higher data rates.
