Impact of Vehicle-to-Grid Technologies on the Electricity System

Currently, one of the main concerns revolves around environmental protection, particularly the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In order to solve this problem, the emission of the greenhouse gases needs to reduce. As a response to this obligation the transportation sector needs to be reformed.Despite the fact electric vehicles be one of the solutions, growing without care can create problems, more specifically in the electrical grid. It can cause serious problems, in the worst case power supply failure due to unbalanced demand/supply from the electrical grid. This is where the V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) appears. This technology can have many benefits and take the care needed to this type of changing and evolution. This technology allow the use of the energy stored in the batteries of EVs for the benefit of the electrical system, allowing the provision of services to the grid.This paper aims to study the impact that these technologies have on the grid, as well the study of possibles services that can be provided, at the global level of the electrical system. To achieve this, data collection will be carried out. This data will be analyzed and a forecast will be considered to study the evolution of the EVs and the respective impact of these technology. Simulations will then be conducted to yield specific insights into the impact of V2G technology. Ultimately, the study aims to analyse strategies for sustainable grid management through ancillary service amidst the evolving landscape of transportation electrification.
