Design of Tunable Multi-Band Antenna for Wireless Applications

This paper represents a novel design of tunable multi-band antenna with motive of applying it in wireless application. The tunable antenna is designed with a dimension of 46.8mm×2.6mm×31.25mm×62.5mm along with FR4(Flame retardant) as substrate with dielectric constant of 4.6 and thickness of 1.6 mm. Frequency tuning technique is utilized to achieve the analogy of tunable antenna. Bowtie antenna with two bowtie elements is responsible for the resonance at 900MHz, 1,61GHz, 2,14GHz, 2,44GHz, 3,57GHz frequencies with the respective gains of 0.67db, 4.58db, 4.14db, 3.79db, 7.29db. Tunable multiband antenna has a return loss less than −10db, SWR ≤ 2 and has a better bandwidth behavior suitable for multi-band application. The proposed antenna could be used for GSM, WLAN, LTE & 5G applications.
