Imaging with Capacitive Sensors Arrays for Powder Bed Fusion Quality Control

“This work evaluates the use of multiple capacitive sensors to provide layer-wise imaging results for in-situ quality control during powder bed fusion additive manufacturing. This new probe is capable of detecting different surface features produced by laser powder bed fusion with stainless steel 316.A probe, with a measurement accuracy better than 1 fF, an update rate of 37 ms, and 12 sensors distributed in a linear arrangement with a distance of 0.4 mm between them, allows for imaging while performing single pass scans.”
