Implementing Interference Minimization Algorithm for Improved Performance in 8×8 MU-MIMO Systems

This study presents a unique method for downlink multiuser multiple-input multiple-output systems by fusing an effective interference mitigation strategy with a fixed-complexity sphere decoder. The proposed method, which is designed to be hardware friendly, effectively lowers inter-user interference and significantly boosts the efficiency of DL MU-MIMO systems. The technique operates within 0.5 dB of optimality for the soft-output option and surpasses current interference whitening filters by an astonishing 4 dB Furthermore, combined the interference mitigation strategy with both hard and soft-output SD detectors to support 8×8 antenna MIMO detection and reduce interference across 4 more streams. This configuration makes it possible to support 3.6 Gbps at 150 MHz for 128-QAM-modulated transmissions. Thanks to a fully pipelined design. Notably, synthesis results demonstrate substantial performance enhancements in inter-user interference management compared to the existing 4×4 antenna configuration MIMO detector.
