English Situational ODIAR Teaching Framework Based on AI Painting and Implementation Pathways

Artificial Intelligence (AI) painting is an innovative application of AI within the artistic domain, characterized by its creativity, efficiency, and interactive nature. It has not only instigated an unprecedented revolution in the field of art but also heralded new application prospects in education. The integration of AI painting into English situational teaching has infused renewed vitality and dynamism into English education. Drawing from situational learning theory, cognitive learning theory, constructivism, and sociocultural theory, this paper introduces an AI painting-based English situational ODIAR (Objective, Design, Implementation, Assessment, and Reflection) teaching framework, encompassing five implementation steps: situational creation, task-driven activities, simulated communication, interactive exchanges, and evaluative feedback. After elucidating the distinct principles and usage characteristics that AI painting should adhere to in English situational teaching at the primary, secondary, and tertiary education levels, the paper presents a list of painting styles tailored to students of different academic stages for use in AI-assisted situational creation. Teachers generate corresponding images and scenarios based on teaching content and students’ interests, thereby rendering the situations more authentic and engaging. This approach significantly enhances students’ interest in English learning, classroom participation, and academic performance in English. Case studies of English classroom teaching implementations reveal that the application of AI painting technology in English situational teaching possesses notable advantages and potential, contributing to the enhancement of students’ English learning outcomes, the cultivation of innovative thinking and problem-solving skills, and simultaneously presenting new opportunities and challenges for teachers’ professional development.
