6-wavelength VIS-SWIR laser with acousto-optic attenuation

We propose a technique for simultaneous selection and attenuation of up to eight spectral components through smooth tuning the frequencies and amplitudes of acoustic waves in acousto-optic crystal equipped with two piezoelectric transducers. We installed this acousto-optic tunable filter in a multi-wavelength system based on a pulsed Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) with intracavity parametric generation of signal wave radiation (1572 nm) and extracavity conversion of light into higher harmonics and total frequencies. Experiments demonstrate repeatable 0-100% attenuation of 6 spectral components (452 nm, 532 nm, 635 nm, 786 nm, 1064 nm and 1572 nm). This laser system may have multiple applications in interferometry, color reproduction, multi-spectral imaging and other fields.
