Femtosecond Laser-Induced Periodic Surface Structures Formation on optical fibers

Highly regular thermochemical laser-induced periodic surface structures (TLIPSS) were produced on the thin Ti metal film deposited on a curved side surface of optical fiber using femtosecond IR laser pulses. The significant dependence of structures regularity on the laser polarization direction relative to the fiber axis was revealed. Results of TLIPSS formation on fiber tip and their practical applications are presented.
