Parallel beam pumped picosecond Raman laser on water with a preamplifier

We report the observation of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in water when excited by non-focused beam of a picosecond (15 ps) pulsed Nd:YLF laser second harmonic (527 nm). In the experiments, a set of cylindrical cuvettes of different lengths has been used. The SRS generation has been achieved when the laser pulse optical path length in the sample reached a certain value. Such experimental setup can be considered as a SRS laser with a preamplifier pumped by a parallel beam.
