Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering of Electrospun Nonwoven Fibers: Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles and Their Effect on the Properties of SERS Materials

In this study, electrospun non-wovens were used as sensor templates. To functionalize the sensor surface, two ways were implemented: a one-step formation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on the surface of the material as a result of the ‘silver mirror’ reaction in situ, and a two-step procedure with preliminary synthesis of AgNPs and their subsequent implementation on the surface of nonwoven materials. The selected substrate was functionalized with an aqueous solution of the glucose oxidase enzyme (GOx). The resulting sensor can be used as a noninvasive high-specific glucose sensor in the composition of biological fluids.
