Effect of Topology on the Optical Properties of Quantum Confined Semiconductor Nanocrystals

We investigate theoretically the effect of topology on the optical properties of quantum confined semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs). In particular, we compare the wavefunctions, energy spectra, and intraband matrix elements of the momentum operator in a semiconductor hollow sphere with those in a spherical quantum dot (QD).
