Genetically Engineered Nanocapsules with Fluorescent and Magnetic Markers for Cell Tracking and Targeted Drug Delivery

Different functionalized nanocarriers are currently being intensively studied for various theranostic applications. Joining the approaches of genetic and chemical engineering novel carriers have been produced based on encapsulins, which are capsid-like protein structures, consisting of a shell and various payload inside. A number of promising applications of targeted encapsulins with optically and magnetically detectable labels were developed.
